Junior Nolan’s team cars of Bart Hartman and Jake Hawkins set the pace from their front row positions with Hartman pulling away at the start.  As the field rolled thru turns 3-4 behind Hartman, JE Stalder, Hawkins and Dixon made it three wide for second with NDRL Series leader Rich Michael and Randy Hall right in the mix.  Hawkins would seal up second by the time the scrabble sorted itself out at the stripe for lap 1 to be completed.  The first yellow came out on lap five for Jim Turley’s spin in turn 2.  Tenth place starter Jonathan Taylor was up to sixth already.

Hartman re-fired the field with Hawkins and Stalder battling for second, Michael would move up to fourth ahead of Dixon as series point leader was starting to move forward.  As lap 9 clicks off the board, Hawkins suddenly slows and heads to the pits relinquishing second to Stalder and Jonathan Taylor was the car on the move as he was now up to fourth.  The yellow lights flashed again for a driveshaft, lying in turn number one. “It is personally important to me to support the NDRL’s McKean County Raceway as well.  I fell in love with dirt racing when I was a boy tagging along with my dad who sometimes was requested as a welder for the pits back in the 80’s.  I was really impressed with the way the first season under NDRL direction went last year.  The McKean County Raceway is one of the nicest facilities that we see and having exciting motorsports action there is great for our community.” READ MORE HERE

The NDRL Announces Newly Formed NDRL Northeast Late Model Series and NDRL Modifieds Series
Pittsburgh, PA (January 7, 2014) Officials with the National Dirt Racing League are pleased to announce the addition of the NDRL Northeast Late Model Series and the NDRL Modifieds Series to the NDRL family of series’ beginning this upcoming 2014 season. We feel there is room in the northeast and mid-Atlantic region for a solid mid-major late model series, but it’s going to take some time to build a relevant regional series that promoters, drivers, and fans can support.’ ‘We would eventually like to see the NDRL Northeast Series to be comparable to the old ‘STARS’ series or ‘MACS’ (Mid-Atlantic Championship Series),’ NDRL Owner John Kennedy bottom-lined. ‘Our plan is to build into something like that within the next few years.

The NDRL Northeast Late Models as well as the NDRL Modifieds will kick off their inaugural season on March 29, 2014 at Mercer Raceway Park and the annual ‘Chiller Thriller’. The NDRL team has been hard at work trying to put together a formidable schedule for racers and fans and have been in negotiations with tracks like America’s Raceway Park, Eriez Speedway, Hagerstown Speedway, Little Valley Speedway, McKean County Raceway, Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway, Port Royal Speedway, Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex, Sharon Speedway, Woodhull Speedway and many others.
